#ScentSunday - Honey Clementine

Autumn is fast approaching, and Yankee Candle are helping us cope with the days getting shorter with a fantastic selection of Harvest Time Fragrances. The collection has a variety of fruity, foodie and fresh fragrances and I'll be doing a post on each of these over the next few weeks. But for this #ScentSunday I am focusing on the fabulously fruity Honey Clementine.

I chose to feature this fragrance first as it's a great transitional fragrance while we're still enjoying some sunshine. The immediate note to hit you is the clementine. It's a sweet and refreshing orange citrus scent that really has a deep honey note. I expected this fragrance to be similar to the Sweet Mandarin candle that was in the recent Botanical set on QVC (available HERE and my review HERE) but they are completely different. It is much richer with a gorgeously sweet honey element.

I've been using a Wax Melt of this throughout the week and it really filled the room. (I'd say it had a similar throw to the powerful Passion Fruit Martini).

As mentioned in a previous post, there are two of us who write this blog and we don't always agree. This scent divided opinion, I personally love it and think it's delicious, powerful and a sophisticated fragrance. Fandle #2 however thought it was like stepping into a certain popular naturally-inspired skincare chain. (But I definitely don't consider that to be a bad thing!)

One thing I love about the candle itself is that the oils are visible throughout the wax. There is a glisten to it and with any Yankee Candle, that is a clear sign that the fragrance will continue throughout it's 150 hour lifespan.

Honey Clementine is available in Yankee Candle stores now and certain Yankee Candle stockists. You can buy it HERE on the Yankee Candle website (which at the time of posting has free postage with any £10 spend, and a free candle care product with any £35 spend)

I can usually easily decide which room I want a candle to live in, but I just couldn't make up my mind with Honey Clementine. It's a fragrance that I'd happily have burning in every room in my house. It's a powerful fragrance so perfect to fill my living room, but the richness is great for my bedroom and it's tasty enough for my dining room... or bathroom or kitchen for that matter!

What do you think to Honey Clementine? Let me know in the comments box below.

Welcome to World Journeys - a holiday in a jar

Whether you're new to Yankee Candle or a seasoned pro, you'll be very familiar with the small/medium/large jars (also known as housewarmer jars). But, you may not be so familiar with the World Journeys range...

So what exactly are they?

Well, they're a 'decor' style range that takes you on a journey around the world - that might sound corny but it's the easiest way to describe them. They're made using essential oils and pure natural extracts from around the globe and are location specific, one example being 'The Rolling Hills of Ireland'.

Traditional jars use names like Black Coconut and Pink Sands but World Journeys bring you Pacific Coconut and Sands of Bora Bora. So they have a stronger link to your travels and places you'd like to visit perhaps. There's quite a nice range out there that includes a Christmas selection so there should be something for everyone.

What else is different?

  • They're a pillar style jar, around the same height as a large jar but a reduced burn time of 65-90 hrs versus the traditional of 110-150 hrs.
  • Double wick! You'll notice two wicks inside the pillar and you know what that means...they pool a lot quicker (and easier). So you can have these lit for a shorter period of time than the minimum 3-4 hrs on a standard large jar.
  • Discreet labels - dare I say they're a little more sophisticated and subtle in their design, with a pretty little depiction of the location
  • Price - they tend to be quite a bit cheaper, we usually pay £5-10 per jar. Given how nice they look (and smell) they're great value and perfect for gifting.
  • Stockists - you won't find these direct with Yankee Candle, you'll need to head to an outlet store, QVC UK and a handful of online outlets.
Are they any good?

YES! I can't rave enough about these, great on cold sniff and even better when lit. They give a great throw of room filling fragrance, visitors always comment when we have these on the go.

Personal favourites include South African Vineyard, Danish Butter Cookie and Christmas in Paris.

We recently bought a USA set of three from QVC at a surprise price of £26.94 (and on easy payments). The set was Pacific Coconut - heavenly, Italian Limoncello - packs a punch but authentic and layered, and New Zealand Wild Berry - rich, fruity, fabulous.

Yet to burn them but they smell gorgeous, so much so that when they arrived at work the whole office could smell them as soon as I opened the box. One colleague described them as 'a holiday in a jar' which I thought was the perfect way to sum them up.

You can pick the set up on QVC, you've missed the surprise price but easy pays are available.

So dip your toes in the tropical waters and give World Journeys a go.

#ScentSunday - Union Jack

After a phenomenal Olympics performance by Team GB, there was no question about what fragrance I would choose for this weeks #ScentSunday. To celebrate how well everyone who performed in the games did (and to show how proud I am) the VHTF Union Jack Yankee Candle is this weeks #ScentSunday.

This rare and retired fragrance was given to me by mummy fandle. She had originally picked up a fair few of these for only £9.99 each(!!). The smell itself is a gorgeous rose fragrance. I love how the wax is a pure white so the bold red, white and blue colours of the flag really jump out at you. The label also has a Collector Edition badge opposed to showing what fragrance family the scent belongs to.

I know this candle is considered quite the collectors item so it sits proudly on my treasure wall.

Do you have a Union Jack candle? Let me know in the comments box below.

Special English Garden QVC Auto Delivery Drop

Back in June, QVC celebrated 12 years of Yankee Candle shows with a full weekend of endless Yankee treats, enough to excite any fandle with rare USA treasures, exclusive labels and fragrances that had never been seen on the channel before. Of course I had to get my hands on as many of the sets as possible.

One stand-out collection that got a lot of attention on social media, was a set of three USA Special Vineyard large jars. Not only was it a fab set, but there was also the option of Auto Delivery to get a further two drops of USA fragrances 60 days apart, at the special anniversary price... How can anyone resist that?

August's drop is due to be a Special English Garden set including Tulips, Beautiful Day and Sheer Gardenia. October's drop is set to include Silver Birch, Irish Cream and Feliz Navidad.

Today I received a letter from QVC stating that they had experienced delays in receiving the stock for the second drop, and they are hoping to receive the sets within the next 30 days. But, if the stock does not arrive, then my order will be cancelled - nightmare!

I had lots of questions, so got straight on the phone to QVC and spoke to a lovely representative who cleared up some of my queries. Hopefully this post will put some of your minds at ease if you also received a letter.

Is it looking likely that the stock will actually arrive?
Tentative yes, good news, but there is no guarantee just yet...

Is there an expected due date for the set?
Yes and no - they are hoping that the stock will arrive in the next seven days, but for a more accurate answer I was told to call back on Friday 19th August and hopefully they will have another update. EDIT: After calling, I was told there is no update as yet but the relevant team will look into this for me and email me any news.

Will my third Auto Delivery drop be cancelled if the second drop is cancelled?
No, stock permitting, the third drop will still be delivered.
Will I experience any charges if the stock doesn't arrive?
No, I was told I will only be charged for stock that is dispatched.

Now there's also an issue with the third drop from the Auto Delivery from the March TSV Step into Spring collection and that's been a bone of contention on the yankee forums over the last week or so. Some fandles have received a letter stating that they will not be receiving the drop that is due early September. Forums online are reporting that only those who did not receive the second drop will be affected - yes there was a stock issue with the second drop of that collection too.

I spoke with QVC on Twitter to see if I was able to get some answers for fandles about the issues. They said customers who are affected will have received a letter and they are encouraging anyone to get in touch directly should they have any questions.

So it seems there are a few issues still behind the scenes but fingers crossed your orders come through.

I would just like to clarify that I am in no way associated with QVC UK and can only pass on information that I have been told. If you do have any queries for QVC you can call them for free on 0800 51 41 31. I am a huge fan of QVC and have only done this post to hopefully try and answer some questions. I love the excellent customer service that QVC offer and also the amazing treats they bring us fandles. I have never had any issues with Auto Delivery drops in the past, and look forward to the next set of Yankee Candle shows that also look to include lots more exciting new Yankee Candles!

UPDATE: After QVC had kept to their word and sent me an update on the delivery status (see the below image to read what they had to say). I checked my order status daily. Today (26/08/16) my order had been shipped. I will update as soon as it arrives. I'm very excited though and ecstatic that they're on the way to me.

Have you received a letter or know any more information? Let me know in the box below.

#ScentSunday - Blueberry Scone

This weeks #ScentSunday is the retired USA fragrance Blueberry Scone. This gorgeous scent was a Special Appearance here in the UK last year and was also available from QVC. I'ts currently not widely available, however you might be able to pick one up online from specialist retailers if you search hard enough. I'd love to see this one make a return one day.

Blueberry Scone is one of my all time favourites (I feel like I say that a lot, but I guess I just love so many Yankee Candle fragrances!). It is a delicious combination of sweet blueberry with a cakey richness and a creamy note to really round this fragrance off.

The first note to I experience is the blueberry, and this is a sweet blueberry and really increases the cakey buttery notes. It's a fragrance that really hits you. Blueberry Scone is not too dissimilar to the Blueberry Cheesecake Simply Home Yankee Candle that was available, but this really has a more powerful scent and more of a delicious cakey note.

I love the deep blue colour of this candle, and the picture really makes me crave afternoon tea. The wax has a fantastic marble effect too with all the gorgeous fragrance oils.

Have you had a perfect afternoon tea with Blueberry Scone? Let me know in the comments below.

Down on the Beach - Portrait Set

For any eagle eyed fandles out there, you might have seen this set in the background of Saturday's QVC show with Rosa. I couldn't make out what the set was, and then out of nowhere a little banner popped up at the bottom of the screen with details of what looked like the same set. It said "over on qvcuk.com..." so of course I went online straight away to find out what the fragrances were.
BUT, I was faced with the two words no fandle ever wants to see... SOLD OUT!

But how? It looked like a brand new set, so I got straight on the phone and was told the set WAS available, but the operator had limited information. As long as I could buy it though, I was happy.

I have bought all the portrait label jars for my collection since they were first featured on QVC for the 12th anniversary shows, and now I've started, I'm not sure if I'll be able to stop. They're a nice affordable set really, so I don't feel too guilty...

Warm Waves
This fragrance is a grower. On first sniff I wasn't a fan, but as I sit here typing, I'm enjoying it more and more. It is what I'd describe as a 'bathroom candle'. QVC describes this as a floral fragrance with a hint of sea salt. If you like Ocean Blossom and Catching Rays, then I think you'd enjoy this one. It is nice and fresh. I wouldn't describe it as very floral, but there is a sweetness to it.

Sand & Surf
Now, I'm a huge HUGE fan of Wild Sea Grass, so the sound of this one really excited me. The scent has an orange note to it, which softens it. I would describe this one as a fruitier version of Windblown. It doesn't have the 'savoury' scent that Wild Sea Grass does, but it does have elements of it. The more I smell it, the fruitier it smells. This one is probably my favourite of the set. Now that I think of it, Sand & Surf has an element of Sunset Breeze to it.
Sangria
This is the standout fragrance of the collection. Sweet, fruity and juicy. A real punch hits you on cold sniff of berries and a zesty citrus note. This is a pretty true to life fragrance and is making me want a large glass of sangria! I imagine this one will have a powerful throw. If you like your berry fragrances, or just a fan of fruity Yankee Candles, then this one is for you.

This is an exclusive set of USA fragrances especially for QVC. As I type this, the set is on the QVC website for £47. However, I managed to get this for less than £30 with two Easy Payments. There is a show at 8pm tonight (09/09/16) so let's see if it's included on that show at that price

The item number for Down on the Beach is 705686 and is available HERE.

All in all I really love this set. The colours of the wax are a nice mix with Warm Waves being a gorgeous blue/turquoise colour. The fruity elements of the fragrances really brightened my mood making me wish I really was down the beach.

Did you spot this set on QVC? Were you quick enough to order a set before they premiered? Let me know in the comments below.

#ScentSunday - Cotton Candy

This weeks #ScentSunday is a VHTF cult classic Yankee Candle. It's so sweet it'll give you an instant sugar rush. It's the fun, pink and oh so fluffy, Cotton Candy.

After doing a poll on Twitter for what my Saturday burn should be, I decided to throw Cotton Candy into the mix but secretly hoped it wouldn't win. I've had two large jars for quite some time (one for the collection and one to burn) but I could never bring myself to light it for two reasons...

1: Cotton Candy is now a retired USA scent and probably one of the most missed Yankee Candle fragrances ever. There is a lot of love for this one online, and lighting it would feel like a crime.
2: A friend of mine had this and would burn it in their apartment, and I wouldn't be able to smell it... At all!

After an hour long poll, Cotton Candy won. I had no choice but to lit the wick...

WOW! What a fragrance. I was expecting a weak non-descript sweet scent, but boy was I wrong. Cotton Candy really transported me to a day at a seaside fairground enjoying a big ball of sticky candyfloss (as we call it here in the UK). It's a sugary fragrance that really fills the room with a powerful throw.
I had this burning from 10:30am up until about midnight, so a really long time, and I could smell it up until I put the flame out. Normally I can get used to a scent quite quickly, but Cotton Candy constantly hit me throughout the day.

I absolutely love the picture on the label, and the colour of the wax is such a pretty pink. The candle alone is enough to sweeten any room.

Cotton Candy is unfortunately no longer available, but I have seen it on eBay going for about £30 each time. There's a selection of wax formats on there too, including a Scenterpiece Melt Cup but you will be paying upwards of three times the amount for that!

This has really surprised me. I think to get the most out of Cotton Candy you need to burn it in a smaller room. I think the scent got lost in my friends apartment.
I would even go as far to say that Cotton Candy is probably in my top 5 fragrances now. I can totally see why there is so much love for it on social media. I'm not looking forward to when the candle comes to an end, I'll have to start up a Bring Back Cotton Candy petition!

Have you had a sugar rush from Cotton Candy? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Passion Fruit Martini

TGIF! I don't know about you but I think after this week, we all deserve a little treat. Did someone say cocktail'o'clock? Make mine a Passion Fruit Martini!

I was absolutely blown away by this scent, and have previously written about it when I blogged about the Warm Summer Nights Yankee Candle TSV on QVC. You can read that post HERE.

I really do think this is the stand out scent of the collection and will be immensely popular. It has such a powerful throw with a real mixture of fruity notes. I immediately smelt the passion fruit, whereas a friend thought the prominent notes were orange and citrus. Another friend went through every tropical fruit under the sun, including mango, until they gave up. When I told them it was Passion Fruit Martini, they were so disappointed with themselves as that is their favourite cocktail (with a prosecco on the side!)

I really love the colour of the wax and the vibrant image on the label, it's such a bright candle and I just love the look of this one. It really is perfect for a warm summer night.
Passion Fruit Martini is such a weekend fragrance for me, when I can really kick back, relax and enjoy the sweet hit of the strong fruity notes and look forward to some fun in the sun.

Passion Fruit Martini is available in Europe from Yankee Candle HERE and Yankee Candle in the USA HERE. It comes in jar format and also wax melts, tea lights and votives (and even more if you're in the US). As the scent is very powerful, I reckon the non-jar formats will pack more of a punch than expected.

It's been a very fruity week with National Watermelon Day and National Peach Month, click on each link to read more about other juicy Yankee Candle fragrances.

What do you think to Passion Fruit Martini? Does it make you crave a cocktail? Let me know in the comments box below.

National Watermelon Day

Happy National Watermelon Day fandles! I've already celebrated National Peach Month so I'm feeling quite fruity at the minute. The sun isn't shining as much as I'd like, but my sweet and juicy Yankee Candles are brightening up my August.

Juicy Watermelon is a USA fragrance that I got from QVC (available HERE, or if you're in the US it's available HERE direct from Yankee Candle) and I absolutely love it. I am a huge fan of American fragrances, and this is no exception.
Juicy Watermelon really takes me back to a family holiday I had in Florida back when I was 9 years old... Watermelons were everywhere and I was obsessed with this huge bold fruit that I had never seen before. Then I discovered Jolly Rancher sweets and I was obsessed with the watermelon flavour. It was so sweet but refreshing. Now every time I eat, or even smell, watermelon I'm transported back to that holiday and it makes me smile.
This candle is exactly that... Sweet, refreshing, true to life and oh so American. A candle Beyonce would enjoy for sure!

What do you think of Juicy Watermelon? Does it transport you back to a certain time or place? Let me know in the comments below.

National Peach Month

You know it's summer when it's peach season. So, what better way to celebrate National Peach Month than with Yankee Candle's Summer Peach.

Released in April throughout Europe as part of the Riviera Escape collection (alongside Sea Salt & Sage, Riviera Escape and Olive & Thyme) Summer Peach is as juicy as it sounds. A real true to life fragrance that is so sweet. This is peach through and through, but a very subtle vanilla note really rounds the fragrance off.

I personally love this one and have bought countless wax melts of it, as well as more than one large jar. A great all year round fragrance, Summer Peach has such a powerful throw and fills my entire downstairs with a delicious aroma.

Peach is such a delicious scent, but if you are looking for something with a mix of fruity notes, then why not try Mango Peach Salsa. Again, this fragrance also has a powerful throw and brings a tropical feel to your home (partly down to the bright yellow wax!). Mango Peach Salsa also comes in Melt Cups, for all you Scenterpiece fans. Delicious!

Summer Peach is available HERE and Mango Peach Salsa is available HERE.
