So what exactly are they?
Well, they're a 'decor' style range that takes you on a journey around the world - that might sound corny but it's the easiest way to describe them. They're made using essential oils and pure natural extracts from around the globe and are location specific, one example being 'The Rolling Hills of Ireland'.
Traditional jars use names like Black Coconut and Pink Sands but World Journeys bring you Pacific Coconut and Sands of Bora Bora. So they have a stronger link to your travels and places you'd like to visit perhaps. There's quite a nice range out there that includes a Christmas selection so there should be something for everyone.
What else is different?
- They're a pillar style jar, around the same height as a large jar but a reduced burn time of 65-90 hrs versus the traditional of 110-150 hrs.
- Double wick! You'll notice two wicks inside the pillar and you know what that means...they pool a lot quicker (and easier). So you can have these lit for a shorter period of time than the minimum 3-4 hrs on a standard large jar.
- Discreet labels - dare I say they're a little more sophisticated and subtle in their design, with a pretty little depiction of the location
- Price - they tend to be quite a bit cheaper, we usually pay £5-10 per jar. Given how nice they look (and smell) they're great value and perfect for gifting.
- Stockists - you won't find these direct with Yankee Candle, you'll need to head to an outlet store, QVC UK and a handful of online outlets.
Are they any good?
YES! I can't rave enough about these, great on cold sniff and even better when lit. They give a great throw of room filling fragrance, visitors always comment when we have these on the go.
Personal favourites include South African Vineyard, Danish Butter Cookie and Christmas in Paris.
We recently bought a USA set of three from QVC at a surprise price of £26.94 (and on easy payments). The set was Pacific Coconut - heavenly, Italian Limoncello - packs a punch but authentic and layered, and New Zealand Wild Berry - rich, fruity, fabulous.
Yet to burn them but they smell gorgeous, so much so that when they arrived at work the whole office could smell them as soon as I opened the box. One colleague described them as 'a holiday in a jar' which I thought was the perfect way to sum them up.
You can pick the set up on QVC, you've missed the surprise price but easy pays are available.
So dip your toes in the tropical waters and give World Journeys a go.
